The First Moon....

Welcome to the first blog.  I can't imagine any better way to begin than by sharing the joy of the past weekend.

First of all, let me introduce myself (if you don't know me already). My name is Leah, and I am the photographer at Swoon the Moon.  I plan to include sneak-peeks of client shoots as well as random photography and information here. You may eventually even catch a story about something one of my curious children has managed to pull off, they are a silly bunch.

This past weekend, I had the chance to photograph "my other mom" (Jessie's mom) along with her 2 sisters and mother.  Let me just say, they were a real hoot.  I'll let the photos explain themselves....

I had SOOO much fun with Jess and her family. They are wonderful.  I also managed to snag a brand-spankin-new sewing machine as payment, along with a second mom that's beyond thrilled to teach me to use it.  I am blessed!

That's Jessie's mom, with the blue tongue.  Gotta love a shoot with this much personality goin' on!

This is one of my favorite shots from the session.   This old rusty trunk was one of the many relics of the past that adorned the property there.  Of course I did manage a few good "serious" shots, but I'm saving those for the client preview on the facebook page.

Now, about those "relics of the past"....
My love for photography began with simple beauty, like trees, bridges, architecture... The property in Alabama where this shoot took place was a wonderland of relics, but I was most fascinated by an old car (shoulda asked what it was).  Again, I will let the photos do the talking....

Now, there's no way I could possibly post these without mentioning my friend (and photographer), Jody Nelson.  He is incredibly talented and inspiring, and upon seeing these relics in the woods, I began snapping, all the while with clear vision of the fully edited image, completely inspired by his work.  You can find him on facebook HERE.
I'm trying to see if he still has a gallery page, as he does amazing images, available as signed and numbered prints.  If so, I'll add that link, too.

If you aren't already following our new adventure's progress on facebook, click HERE or find my personal photography page HERE.

Well, that's all I have for ya today, but click that little follow button over there, as I will be back very soon with some night sky images of the moon and how I learned the hard way to use the manual setting on my Nikon.  Maybe I'll save you a headache :)

Thanks for stoppin' by!

~Leah
